There are so many different exercises and if you belong to a gym, it can become overwhelming after only a few minutes of circling the circuit. Don’t be intimidated by those who seem to know exactly what they are doing because chances are good that they too are trying to figure out which exercises are the best for reaching your maximum potential. Look no further! These are the top five exercises that any and everyone can do to get in the best shape of their lives.

1) Push-ups

Push-ups have been used in the military for decades and there is a good reason, they work several muscle groups and continually provide a challenge. Push-ups work arms, abs, back, and legs (depending on the style of push-up you select). Changing up the type of push-up you use can also work for alternate muscle groups. From knee-down girl push-ups to one-handed push-ups, there are countless ways to increase your stamina and improve muscle tone with just one exercise.

2) Squats

The ultimate leg workout, squats can cut thighs, knees, and calves in ways that no other exercise can. Adding weight over time only makes squatting even better for all-around leg strength. Squats can be done in the gym or at home, making it an ideal exercise, not to mention there are several different types of squats to transition through.

3) Sit-ups/Planking

An ab workout like no other, sit-ups and planking form muscles in your stomach, blasting belly fat in limited time. Maximum return for minimum work, the sit-up can be utilized to work upper abs, lower abs and sides.

4) Walking/Jogging

Simple, healthy and it can be done anywhere and at any time. Walking or jogging is THE best way to tone muscles while challenging cardio. From the gym to the street, this exercise is what we were made to do. An easy calorie killer, walking is highly recommended by almost every doctor to get in shape.

5) Pull-Ups

For those of you looking for the quickest way to shape up, pull-ups are definitely for you! Combining abs, back, and arms, it is surprising that most people can not do them. A “goal” exercise, pull-ups are where you WANT to be and once you are able to do pull-ups, you know that you are well on your way to being in tip-top shape.
